Welcome to the June edition of the School Kitchen Newsletter where we will be keeping you up to date with a few of our adventures over the last month and give you a sneak peak of something coming soon.

Mambo Italiano!

We launched our new Italian Restaurant Mercurio last Friday! Now you can add delicious sourdough Pizzas to your mix and match order when you order though our app or website. All our Pizzas are topped with luscious tomato passata, homemade mozzarella and a range of quality fresh ingredients. Mercurio is available now through Deliveroo and Just Eat or through our School Kitchen app and website.

From Plot to Pot

Our Kitchen Garden (more on how its going below) seemed like an excellent opportunity to show kids where some of their food come from, so we started Cooking and Gardening Classes for the pupils at Carr this week and we’re loving them! As we’ve just launched Mercurio this weeks cooking lesson was making Pizza. The kids had fun learning about the origins of Pizza then enjoyed getting muddy in the garden digging up potatoes and carrots. The Lesson ended with the kids eating the pizzas they made. We think it was top marks all around!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Things are going very well with our Kitchen Garden here at Carr. As well as the potatoes and carrots we harvested with the kids, we have loads of beans, chili and bell peppers, spinach and parsley shooting up! There are herbs on the way and the broccoli is doing particularly well and in the new raised beds we’ve planted corn and pumpkin so lots to look forward to!

Coming Soon

School Kitchen is partnering with Jorvik Radio at the Mothership Festival on 30th June. It will be a great day out for all the family at Acomb Cricket Club. As well as listening to the bands on the School Kitchen stage, you can come and buy some food at our stand and if you are feeling lucky you can enter the competition at win a free takeaway. See you there!
